The way you receive your private health insurance statement (tax statement) has changed.
And we thought we’d give you a quick update on what the changes are and how they affect you. The good news is it means less paperwork for you!
Recently, the Australian Government introduced a series of changes to make health insurance simpler. One of these changes means that you no longer need your private health insurance statement (tax statement) to submit your tax return.
Private health insurers will send member tax statement information for 1 July 2018 to 30 June 2019 directly to the Australian Taxation Office by 15 July 2019.
If you lodge your tax return online using myTax, or lodge using a registered tax agent, your health insurance details should be pre-filled. If your health insurance details are not pre-filled or you lodge a paper tax return, you will need your private health insurance statement (tax statement) so that you can complete your income tax return.
