20 November 2017
What happens when you put a pair of ballet slippers on an ex-AFL superstar?
During her 12 years with the Australian Ballet, ballerina Brooke Lockett would perform up to 200 shows each year. That’s roughly 2,400 shows in total.
Meanwhile, across his career, our move well ambassador and ex-AFL superstar has undertaken 3551 kicks, 1105 tackles, 228 goals and… zero pirouettes.
Before stepping into his ballet slippers for his first Chris Judd Starts Over challenge, our ex-AFL superstar had never even been to a live ballet performance, let alone taken a shot at a grand jeté.
“I felt how I looked. Which was very clumsy,” he laughs.
Brooke acted as expert guide by taking Chris through some essential poses. “I certainly came with a significant appreciation of just how strong ballerinas are,” says Chris. “Their level of control is quite incredible.” Will he take to the barre again?
Potentially, he says.
“It's good to put yourself in a situation that’s a little bit uncomfortable. That’s how a lot of people feel about all sorts of exercise.”
We challenged Juddy to completely start over – but you don't have to. The first step to becoming healthier could be a simple #onechange, like trying a new exercise class. If you’re looking for inspiration to keep you on track, our think well ambassador Alisa Camplin talks more about goal setting here.
Former Australian Rules footballer Chris Judd is familiar with how to get your heart rate up and push yourself physically. Twice winner of the prestigious Brownlow Medal, Chris is an honoured sportsman and father to four children, Oscar, Billie, Tom and Darcy.
