While you’re doing the work of tapping into your innate gift, and making sure you’re taking care of yourself, you can also start thinking about where you’d like to be of service. It might be a cause, an idea or a problem that you want to try and solve, and you can begin applying it in your current role, no matter what you do.
For example, you might be passionate about supporting new parents, so you might find ways to push for more flexible work for working parents, or start up regular community lunches for new parents outside of traditional parents’ groups.
You might explore ways to move your workplace over to more renewable energy, or educate yourself on mental health programs you could help initiate within your workplace. Or perhaps you set up internship or training program for underprivileged and less well-represented people in your community through your employer.
There are so many ways to work with more purpose today, and it doesn’t always need to be a huge overhaul – what’s important is taking those small steps along that journey. When you’re living and working in alignment with your innate gift, and being of service to something greater, that’s when I think joy and meaning start to manifest.
