These simple steps show you how to link your Garmin account to AIA Vitality so you can earn AIA Vitality Points for activity tracked through your device.
You must have an active AIA Vitality membership and a Garmin account.
Step 1
Open the AIA Vitality app and tap Account in the bottom right corner of the screen.
Step 2
On the Account screen, tap Connected apps & devices.
Step 3
Tap Garmin from the list of compatible apps available.
Step 4
Have your Garmin account sign in details ready.
Tap Link now
Step 5
Sign in to your Garmin account.
Step 6
Decide what information you’d like to share with AIA Vitality.
We recommend you select Activities and Daily Health Stats to maximise your points earning opportunities and to help you reach your weekly activity targets.
Tap Save
Step 7
Read the Privacy Policy, and if comfortable, tap Agree to share your data.
Your Garmin data will now sync to
AIA Vitality.
Garmin will appear as Pending in the AIA Vitality app until new data is synced.
This happens after your next workout is synced between your Garmin device and the Garmin Connect app.
You can see Garmin is connected to AIA Vitality on the Manage apps & devices and Garmin Connected screens.
During high demand periods, it can take up to 48 hours to sync your Garmin data to the AIA Vitality app and for any eligible AIA Vitality Points you’ve earned to appear on your Points Statement.
Step 1
Recent activity not showing on your AIA Vitality Points Statement?
Check that the activity is showing in the Garmin Connect app.
Open the Garmin Connect app on your smartphone (iOS or Android).
Sign in to your Garmin Connect account.
On the home screen tap More in the bottom right corner.
Tap Activities to see your recent activity.
Tap the activity category you completed, eg Running.
If your activity is not showing in the Garmin Connect app, but is showing on your fitness device, then sync your device to the Garmin Connect app.
Step 2
Check that your Garmin device is linked to the Garmin Connect app
Open the Garmin Connect app.
On the home screen, tap more in thebottom right corner.
Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Garmin Devices.
Your device should be listed as ‘Connected’.
Step 3
Confirm the Garmin Connect app is recording your activity
Complete some physical activity
Go for a walk, run, or workout while wearing your device that’s linked to the Garmin Connect app
On the Garmin Connect home screen, tap the device icon or refresh arrows in the top right corner to sync your device.
You should see your activity in the Garmin Connect app.
If you still don’t see your activity, then:
Ensure Bluetooth is Enabled
Bluetooth must be turned on in your smartphone to enable syncing.
If syncing fails, try turning Bluetooth off and on again.
Check app Permissions
For iOS, check that Bluetooth and background app refresh are enabled for Garmin Connect.
For Android, ensure Garmin Connect has access to location and background activity.
Step 4
Check Garmin Connect is linked to the AIA Vitality app
Open the AIA Vitality app
Tap Account in the bottom right corner.
Tap Connected apps & devices and find Garmin.
There should be a green line on the left of the Garmin tile.
You should see ‘Last synced’ and a date on the Garmin tile.
If you don’t, open the Garmin Connect app.
On the home screen, tap the device icon or refresh arrows in the top right corner to sync your device data.
Step 5
Check AIA Vitality is linked to the Garmin Connect app
Open the Garmin Connect app.
Tap More in the bottom right corner.
Tap Settings, then tap Connected Apps.
If AIA Vitality is listed under Connected Apps, it’s linked.
If AIA Vitality is not listed, wait 24 hours before following Step 4 to link Garmin Connect to the AIA Vitality app.
Step 6
Check your Garmin Connect account isn't linked to another AIA Vitality account
Your Garmin Connect account may be linked to a previous or different AIA Vitality account.
You cannot share your Garmin Connect account with more than one AIA Vitality account, so you’ll need to disconnect one of them.
Open the Garmin Connect app.
Tap More in the bottom right corner.
Tap Settings, then tap Connected Apps.
You should see AIA Vitality listed as a connected app, then:
Tap AIA Vitality
Tap Disconnect
Now, disconnect your Garmin Connect account in the AIA Vitality app.
Open the AIA Vitality app.
Tap Account in the bottom right corner.
Tap Connected apps & devices.
Tap the Garmin tile, then tap Disconnect.
