1 April 2026 AIA Health Product Changes

We’re making some updates to AIA Health from 1 April 2026. These changes help us manage rising healthcare costs while continuing to offer valuable benefits.

What’s Changing?

AIA Vitality Premium Discount

The 5% AIA Vitality premium discount will no longer apply to AIA Health premiums. This change allows us to reduce the overall premium increases required in 2026.

New AIA Vitality Premium Rewards

On 1 April 2026, AIA Vitality is introducing a new benefit, AIA Vitality Premium Rewards - a new way to be rewarded for engaging with your health through AIA Vitality. As an AIA Health member, you will receive a contribution of up to $80 ($40 for AIA Vitality Starter members) towards your next health insurance premium payment each time you achieve a new AIA Vitality Status, up to $240 (or $120 for AIA Vitality Starter) per membership per policy each AIA Vitality membership year.

New Extended Cover for Families

We’re introducing Extended Family cover which increases the age limit of dependants’ cover from 25 to 31 years old to give families more flexibility. This means your family can be protected under one policy, giving you peace of mind and protection for longer.  When the eldest dependant on your policy is approaching their 25th birthday, they can stay on your policy for longer if you contact us via phone or email and elect to move to Extended Family/Extended Single Parent Cover.

This option is available for an additional cost and is often cheaper than taking out a separate policy.

Annual Policy Limits for FlexiExtras

To help keep cover affordable for all members, we’re introducing an annual policy limit on FlexiExtras products.

The annual policy limit will be three times the per person annual limit.

For example, if the per individual annual limit is $1,000, the new annual policy limit will be $3,000. 

Increased Hearing Aid Benefit (Better Set Extras)

We’re increasing the hearing aid annual limit on Better Set Extras from $200 to $300.

AIA Vitality Program Change for Bronze Hospital members

We’re streamlining AIA Vitality for Bronze Hospital members. From 1 April 2026, Bronze Hospital members will move to AIA Vitality Starter – an introductory program with similar benefits and rewards to AIA Vitality.

The monthly AIA Vitality fee will reduce from $12.50 to $6 per month per membership.

Key changes:

  • Gym discounts: You will be eligible for a discount of 30% with our gym partners. If you currently receive a higher discount, this will reduce to 30% from 1 April 2026. AIA Vitality may contact you with more information about how this change could impact a current gym membership contract.
  • Flight cashbacks: You’ll be eligible for a cashback of up to 30% on eligible Virgin Australia flights.
  • Apple Watch benefit: If you already have this benefit, you’ll keep it. From 1 April 2026, new access requires AIA Vitality Platinum Status. Under AIA Vitality Starter, you can still earn your Apple Watch by meeting your weekly physical activity targets.

Shopping Rewards: You will no longer have access to the Shopping Rewards benefit. Any Shopping Rewards vouchers you’ve earned must be redeemed before 31 March 2026 and will remain available in the Voucher Wallet in the AIA Vitality app.

Your AIA Vitality membership number and membership year will remain the same. Terms and Conditions of the AIA Vitality program will still apply.

General

We value AIA Vitality and the positive role it plays in supporting our members’ health and wellbeing. Many members actively engage with the program, and that remains important to us.
 
We’re removing the 5% AIA Vitality premium discount as part of simplifying our pricing and rewards. This helps us balance value and ensure benefits remain sustainable over the long term for all members.
 
AIA Vitality will be introducing new reward opportunities, so members can continue to be recognised and rewarded for engaging with their health.

Most changes will take effect from 1 April 2026. 

Your premium may change depending on your cover. We’ll email you with your updated premium before the changes take effect.

Bronze Hospital Members

You’ll still access free online and in person health checks and support on your journey. Some of your benefits and rewards will change.
 

$6 per person per month, compared to $12.50 per person per month for AIA Vitality. 

If you have a current gym membership discount this will reduce to 30% from 1 April 2026.  If you upgrade your Health policy to Bronze Plus hospital and gain access to AIA Vitality, your discount will be 40%. If you currently receive a higher discount, this will reduce to 30% from 1 April 2026. AIA Vitality may contact you with more information if needed. 

You will no longer have access to Shopping Rewards. Any Shopping Rewards vouchers you’ve redeemed will still be accessible in the Voucher Wallet in the AIA Vitality app. 

If you have a Priority Protection policy, you may be able to keep your current AIA Vitality access. We’ll be in touch with more information before 1 April 2026.
 
If you have a relationship or policy with another AIA Australia entity that provides you with access to AIA Vitality, there will be no change to your AIA Vitality access. However, if you choose to end your other relationship or policy with AIA Australia, your access to AIA Vitality will change to AIA Vitality Starter. We will let you know via email if this happens. 

You can upgrade to Bronze Plus Hospital. If you actively engage in AIA Vitality, contact us on the above details to discuss this option.

Extras and Benefits

One of the rewards of being a member of AIA Vitality is access to the AIA Vitality Premium Rewards, which is unlocked once you achieve AIA Vitality Silver Status.
 
AIA Vitality members can earn up to $240 in Premium Rewards per membership year. AIA Vitality Starter members can earn up to $120 in Premium Rewards per membership year.
 
Premium Rewards are unlocked when a member achieves AIA Vitality Silver, Gold and Platinum Status.
 
Premium Rewards are only eligible to be used as a premium credit on your AIA Health insurance policy.
 
What this means for you:
 
  • Any Premium Rewards that you earn will be applied as a premium credit on your AIA Health policy and will be used to reduce your next premium payment. 
  • You will earn an AIA Vitality Premium Reward of $80 (or $40 if you have AIA Vitality Starter) each time you achieve a new AIA Vitality Status. Members can achieve Silver, Gold and Platinum Status. 
  • Premium Rewards only apply for any change in AIA Vitality Status from 1 April 2026.

If you have access to AIA Vitality through another relationship with AIA Australia, you will still be able to earn AIA Vitality Premium Rewards. You will earn an AIA Vitality Premium Reward of $80 each time you achieve AIA Vitality Silver, Gold and Platinum Status. 

Policy Limits are the maximum amount a family can claim for certain services across all members on the policy. This helps make benefits clearer and fairer for everyone.
 
From 1 April 2026, an annual Policy Limit equal to 3x the per person limit will apply on the treatments included within your cover.
 
Each person can claim up to their per person limit, except when the Policy Limit has been reached, at which point no further claims can be made.

Any extras benefits claimed prior to 1 April 2026 will not count towards your Policy Limits in 2026.

The benefit on Better Set Extras will increase from $200 to $300. This means you’ll be able to claim more back on hearing aids.

We will be increasing the age limit of dependents cover from 25 to 31 years old from 1 April 2026.
 
If you have an adult dependant at home aged 25 to 30, you can elect to add them to your current policy until they turn 31 for an additional cost. The additional cost is likely to be lower than the cost of the adult dependent taking out equivalent cover by themselves.
