AIA Australia is running the Australia’s Healthiest Workplace Survey again and looking at the insights from last year’s results, employers still have some work to do to improve the workplace for employees and to measure their investment in employee health related initiatives.
The Healthiest Workplace by AIA Vitality is a science-backed workplace survey across Australia that examines data on employee lifestyle, clinical indicators, mental health, stress, and other areas of concern with the objective of assessing the associated impact on health and productivity.
Australia’s Healthiest Workplace is free and open for companies with at least 20 employees to register here until 30 May. After registration, employees will need to complete the survey by 29 June. The results will be analysed with respect to health trends in the workplace to discover Australia’s Healthiest Employer, Healthiest Employees and Healthiest Workplace. The winners will be announced towards the end of 2018.
According to AIA Australia, last year’s program resulted in the following key insights[1]:
54% of analysed employees in Australia are subject to at least one dimension of work related stress.
The average number of productive days lost (due to absenteeism and presenteeism) is 43.7 which equates to more than 8.5 working weeks and approximately $10 million per employer per year.
Whilst many companies are spending money on health and wellbeing initiatives, the vast majority do not measure whether they’re valued by employees and the return on investment.
Damien Mu, CEO of AIA Australia and New Zealand, is a keen advocate for health and wellbeing, both personally and as a responsible employer. “Continuous improvement, particularly where your people are concerned is a critical part of any employer strategy. Australia’s Healthiest Workplace Survey is an excellent way for employers to assess, plan and track for employee health strategies.”
