Melbourne, 17 October 2017 – AIA Australia, one of the largest life insurers in Australia*, today announced the launch of charity donations within its AIA Vitality program: AIA Vitality members can now choose to donate their weekly Active Benefits reward to one of three Australian charities - Black Dog Institute, Cancer Council Australia or Diabetes Australia.
In May 2017 AIA Vitality introduced its enhanced Active Benefits, with personalised, weekly physical activity targets – rewarding members with a $5 voucher each week upon reaching their target.
Renae Smith, Chief Marketing Officer of AIA Australia, said: “We at AIA Australia are very excited about introducing the charities into AIA Vitality. Active Benefits is about encouraging regular physical activity as we all need a little extra motivation sometimes to get moving – and now members can get active and give to a good cause. The act of giving has also been found to have positive physiological and psychological impacts.”**
According to the World Health Organisation, there are four controllable lifestyle behaviours – physical inactivity, poor nutrition, smoking and excess alcohol – which lead to four non-communicable diseases (cancer, diabetes, respiratory and heart diseases), responsible for 90% of the deaths in Australia.
Renae Smith said: “As a life insurer, we see the impacts of this on our claims. These partnerships were chosen to support our vision to embrace shared value in championing Australia and NZ to be the healthiest nations in the world. It represents our commitment to supporting the health of our customers and reducing the impact of these diseases on the health of our nation.”**
AIA Vitality members now have more reward options for reaching their weekly Active Benefits target. Members can choose between Boost Juice, HOYTS, iTunes, Woolworths, or choose to donate their $5 voucher to Black Dog Institute, Cancer Council Australia or Diabetes Australia. This means members will be able to give up to $260 per year to charity.
