I’m a Lebanese Muslim, and religion is the most important thing in my life. Personally, I don’t find it difficult to balance religion and sport – in fact, I think of religion as my compass, showing me the path to take.
Islam is a way of life: it teaches us resilience and how to have good character. There’s a verse in the Qur’an – our religious text – that reads, “For indeed with hardship will be ease”. It always reminds me that there’s a light at the end of every tunnel.
Islam also teaches us to be kind and respectful, and to help people in need. But first and foremost, you must be sincere. Intent is massive in Islam; when you’re sincere and have the right intention, everything in your life seems to fall into place.
