As Connor progressed from backyard footy to higher levels of the game, people began noticing his talent. “I started playing in a few development squads and was lucky enough to be selected in a few state teams,” he recalls.
Still, he wasn’t seriously considering a career as an athlete. “It wasn’t until I started playing State [Academy] 18s that I thought, ‘Oh, this is really something that could happen.’”
“That end goal of becoming a player – getting on the list [was] just the beginning of it all,” Connor says. “Playing football and making it a career for a long period of time are two very different things.”
