AIA Australia has announced the appointment of Kelly Smith as the Head of Innovation, overseeing the development and implementation of AIA’s innovation capability and culture across Australia and New Zealand.
Ms Smith has over 20 years’ experience leading strategic innovation and change within financial services. She has an extensive background and expertise across superannuation, insurance and investment products, customer service, operations, product management, custody, finance and project/program management.
Her role at AIA Australia is to identify and drive strategies aimed at creating new product and customer solutions to position AIA as the leading life, health and wellbeing insurance provider across Australia and New Zealand.
“I am looking forward to further enhancing our innovation capability and creating new ways of working to deliver innovation to our customers and partners,” Ms Smith said. “I believe disruption is the new normal and in a world that is highly connected, complex, customer-centric and fast-paced, our people at AIA are central.”

Ms Smith joins AIA Australia from HESTA Superannuation Fund where she was General Manager of Operations and Insurance Experience. She previously worked at NAB, MLC and Colonial.
Ms Smith holds an MBA, Masters of Project Management, BCom (Accounting) and is a CPA.
