The pilot marks the latest venture by AIA in seeking out innovative solutions and technologies aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of Australians and New Zealanders.
AIA Australia and New Zealand’s employees will have access to Medibio’s corporate health program for six months, which promotes mental wellness by checking and monitoring symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress, and giving users a ‘wellness snapshot’ that they can track and make improvements to over time.
The announcement follows AIA Australia’s recent AIA Vitality 4490 Summit, which explored the ways in which individuals and companies can collaborate to improve corporate health and wellbeing.
AIA Australia and New Zealand CEO Damien Mu said that working with staff on the pilot resonated, because while awareness of the breadth and impact of mental health issues in Australia is increasing, people often do not reach out to their support network or employer until late in the process. “We recognise the crucial role mental health plays in an individual’s overall health. We want to be involved in early intervention, education and awareness.”
AIA Australia has also been working with the rest of the life insurance industry through its association, the Financial Service Council, on a revised Life Insurance Code of Practice, which has been recently released for public consultation and seeks to better identify and support people with mental health conditions.
