As part of our commitment to helping people live healthier, longer, better lives, AIA Australia (AIAA) has partnered with Perx Health to conduct a pilot program whereby a limited number of AIAA customers will be offered free access to Perx for 12 months.

Perx is a digital health management program that uses technology and behavioural science to deliver clinically proven self-management intervention and health management techniques to assist you with managing your health condition.

Available on both smartphones and tablets, the Perx app works by simplifying your routines into one easy-to-use schedule, by sending you reminders to complete health tasks that are designed to keep you healthy and enjoying life. 

Whether it’s through enhanced self-management of your appointments, medication, physical activity levels or health choices, Perx has been shown to encourage better health outcomes by giving you the ability to earn rewards for maintaining good health habits.

Perx is a digital health management program that uses technology and behavioural science to deliver clinically proven self management intervention and health management techniques to assist users with managing their health condition. Perx health is backed by Federal Health and the NSW Health’s Medical Devices Fund.

Perx is an app that assists people with a diagnosed medical condition manage their treatment as prescribed by their treating practitioner. Users of the app are rewarded with incentives such as shopping vouchers when they complete their health tasks and answer several wellbeing questionnaires at various points throughout the program.

AIA Vitality is a science-backed health and wellbeing program that encourages and supports its members to make healthier lifestyle choices, and rewards them for doing so. While similar in nature to AIA Vitality, Perx is intended to help users manage a chronic health condition. They do this by incentivising users to follow their prescribed treatment plan and encourage practicing mindfulness as well as healthy lifestyle activities such as exercise. An eligible customer can use Perx and AIA Vitality at the same time and receive rewards for both.

AIA Australia (AIAA) will be running a 12-month pilot program in partnership with Perx Health. To begin with, we’ll be offering Perx to a small number of AIAA Priority Protection customers who have an exclusion or loading as a result of being diagnosed with anxiety or depression. If the pilot is successful, we may look to offer Perx to customers with other health conditions.

For eligible program participants, using Perx is completely free. AIAA will pay for the cost of the program and the insured customer will get free access for 12 months.

The insured’s details – such as their name, email address and phone number – will be shared with Perx when the referral for the program is made. Perx will collect data from questionnaires a customer completes and their engagement with the app. This data will then be de-identified and shared with AIAA.

No. AIAA will first need to conduct research after the 12-month pilot to determine whether removing loadings or exclusions is feasible. We will not be doing so at the conclusion of the pilot.

Participating in the pilot program should make it easier for participants to manage their chronic health condition. Furthermore, the program is fun and they’ll be rewarded with incentives such as shopping vouchers.
 
Participating in the pilot will also enable AIAA to gain valuable insights into whether the Perx Health program can help our customers improve their wellbeing. If the pilot is successful, AIAA will be able to provide future customers who have an exclusion or a loading on their policy the opportunity to participate in a Perx program, and ultimately to provide them with full cover if they can demonstrate that they manage their mental health condition well.

The pilot is voluntary and customers can withdraw at any time.

The customer will still have access to the Perx Health program at the end of the pilot, though this will be a lite version and won’t include access to shopping vouchers.
