The Pain Revolution Ride is an annual regional bike ride that is also a community-based educational program aiming to help people who suffer from chronic pain. This year funds were raised to train local expert ‘Pain Coaches’ in communities along the Sydney to Albury trail, who then support doctors, physiotherapists and health professionals in education and treatment of persistent pain.
The initiative was a great success with:
AIA Australia was proud to be a Platinum sponsor of the ride and we will continue to support the important work that Pain Revolution is doing.
Here's a few highlights from the tour.
Public and local health professional seminars were held along the route from Sydney to Albury/Wodonga; two of which had so many registrations that additional space was needed!
The Pain Revolution Brain Bus helped to educate 250 people from local communities along the way with:
Through the LPE network, Pain Revolution has the potential to reach over 100,000 people suffering from chronic pain.
The next step for AIA is to run a pain education pilot for selected claimants. The aim of this pilot is to have improved health and return to work outcomes for our members experiencing chronic pain. We’ll take the outcomes from this research to implement an ongoing approach to the way we support our members who are dealing with chronic pain.
With chronic pain affecting 20% of the Australian population we need to help continue the good work the LPE network is doing. Next year the bike ride will travel through rural communities in Tasmania, stay tuned to hear how the Pain Revolution is making a difference.
